Sonntag Lätare (in deutsch und englisch)

"Lätare bedeutet "Freuet euch mit Jerusalem !" (Jesaja 66,10).

-"Little Easter" -

An old custom: the "Lätare-bunch": The bunch is decorated with two violett and one pink ribbon, this means the 3 sundays till Easter. Into the pink ribbon shines already the light of Easter, so it is pink, not violett like the next two sundays. Pink ribbon means the sunday Lätare. The 3 pretzels are a symbol for an old praying-pose. I made a drawing of this praying-pose.

  1. A very nice description of an old tradition. I like hearing about this.
I sometimes sleep in the pretzel pose. I see some beautiful spring crocuses and wonder what the next decoration will be.

  3. Ramona,I think your sleep is a prayer for animals, nature...When I walk anywhere I look: What will come next Sunday? I do this since 1996, so I am connected with all flowers in the region and some people have to be afraid, that I climb over their fence... :)

  4. Hallo, Stille Linde, Thank you for your comment! I like your colored picture very much. I have still to go into your new Blog by going into your e-mail, also I have problems to post a comment. But I am happy to find your art wonderful presented in a very BELGIAN stile! :) I will learn it later (maybe I am a little bit old? :) )

This is a wonderful thing to be doing. You have knowledge of all the plants and I wonder with you what will be ready next. May be some fruit tree branches have flowers soon? I have a picture of you climbing over a fence,
